Introduction

Hello Families and Students,

 

Thank you for visiting here!

 

I am so excited to be working with you to bring the best education for your child. My name is Laura Lee Winchester, and I will be the new 6th, 7th ,8th, and Math Intervention Teacher. I am here for you and your family to help your child have the best experience for this school year.

 

Laura Lee Winchester Biography

 

I have been teaching for over 10 years as a substitute teacher in multiple districts while raising four children. The last three years I worked as a full-time 7th and 9th grade math teacher and a long-term substitute teacher for 7th grade Math, 8th grade Science, and Algebra. I completed my Master’s in Education and hold my Single Subject Math Credential.

 

I’m really looking forward to being here for you and your families, please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you.

Middle School Math Syllabus

Welcome!

 

Middle School Math students will be learning all the Common Core State Math Standards for grades 6th, 7th, and 8th grade.

 

We are using the Illustrative Math approach which is the number 1 way to study and retain this material.  In class we will apply it to the real world and use a lot of collaboration with our fellow students to explore and master the math.

 

Expectations:

Be on time.

Bring all materials = Chromebook charged, pencil and paper.

No food, drink or gum (only water) allowed in class.

Respect yourself and everyone else on campus including opinions and personal property.

Take ownership for your education, asking for help when needed, and staying focused on math goals.

 

 

Grades

How Weighted:

Homework is 20%.

Participation is 20%.       

Classwork is 30%.

Assessments (Tests and Quizzes) are 30%. This totals100%.

 

Test Correction policy:

All students are allowed one test correction per quiz and test.  All students must complete the correction paper and 80% of homework.  This needs to be completed before the next quiz/test.

 

Point System: Goal on time full points =)

1-week late turn in work 10% deduction

2-weeks late turn in work 20% deduction

3 weeks late turn in work 30% deduction

4 weeks late turn in work 40% deduction

 

 

Cell phone and Air pod policy:

Cell phones collected in House.  Air pods are stored inside zipped backpack.

Misuse will result in loss of privilege.
